I just had a pacemaker put in last week. It was pm with defibrillator. I am having second surgery next week to put in second wire thru the ribs to the outside of left ventricle. They could not attach thru the heart. I am experiencing crippling fear this time. Anyone had this surgery? Coping with the fear?

My 23 yr old son had to get a pacemaker 2 months ago. It was placed under his pec muscle, but continues to give him a considerable amount of pain. He can't jump or run without it feeling like its bouncing around and hurting. Has anyone else who had it implanted under the muscle experienced this? He was a college basketball player and very fit, so this is an issue for him. Would appreciate any feedback that might help us. We have a follow up doctor appointment in a month.

Hello everyone, I have a challenge. I have had my PM now for 13 weeks, and I thought that I was going well.
Now I've noticed over the passed week or so that I have becomes overly sensitive to cellphones, laptops cordless phones any thing you can think possible. I have also been feeling like electric shocks in my fingers. and a burning heavy sensation in my chest. I had the PM checked yesterday and the tech said that it was working well. I have to travel for work soon, and most flights hav...

Could people please comment on their experiences with
getting an "upgrade" to their pacemaker from 2 leads to 3?
I had a 2 lead PM installed in Oct 2013 for 2-1 AV heart block.
I have felt very unhealthy since. 9 months later I finally got some tests. My latest test (nuclear stress test) and echo show that my left ventricle -- previously functioning PERFECTLY -- is now "akinetic" and its injection fraction is reduced by 25%. The "solution" proposed is to now add a 3rd lea...

Hi, I'm new. Is there a reporting site to look to see if others with the same model pacemaker are having way too many issues?
Thank you.

I guess I helped our website managers with a problem they did know existed. I started losing my access to this site. I since changed my username ( I was just plain "judy") now I am judyblue. That is my name for my motorcycle. So this is a test. I am hoping I can now receive private messages and have my profile stop saying I was born in 1870! As cranky as I am, I cannot lose the only site that puts up with me!

I had a defi\b/pacemaker device implanted the end of march this year .immediately after being discharged from the hospital in Brunswick ,Ga. {we were on vacation }, I was suffering from extreme pain in the lower part of my heart area .the Dr.Mark Watkins who did the surgery said it was post-op pain . I continued to suffer for about a week then went to a local hospital in Atlanta to have my device checked .They found that the shock lead was not operating .It had penetrated the wall of my heart...

Those of you who have had an infection in your pacemaker some time after the incision was all healed, can you share what your symptoms were? I have been having unusually frequent pain recently around the pacemaker. The technician interrogated the device and said there's nothing wrong with the pacemaker, so my cardiologist ordered some blood cultures done.
thank you

I posted earlier. The tweaking of the PM lasts one day, then i am miserable again. DR says we need to do a Nuclear Test and
see what is going on. Iam supposed to call Monday. I will tomorrow, Friday. I may need a Stent!
The regular stress tests were passed with. Flying colors. There is a 15% error rate. The Nuclear test is more accurate.
I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Jerry

Hi Everyone,
I've been reading about nausea under the search section, there's a lot. I am 2 months s/p PM. I am having nausea upon wakening, enough so that eating in AM (4AM) is difficult, which I need to do because I won't get a chance to eat til 1 or 2PM. I did not have nausea before PM or after. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. I have no dizziness, sweating or pain. I also have not had any med changes. I do have medication for the nausea, which works but it's adding anothe...

I have chronic atrial fibrillation, a mechanical mitral valve, and an EF of 19-24. I"m scheduled to get a pacemaker defibrillator in two weeks. I'm about to change my mind about the defibrillator. Will the defibrillator shock me every time I go into AF. Does the pace maker shock also?

Hi,
I have had my pacemaker since 2010. I had heart block during hospitalization after being hit by a car. No other heart issues prior to that incident. I had pretty much adjusted to having a pacemaker, but since yesterday, I have been experiencing discomfort/pain in my left pectoral (the side that the pacemaker is on) when I exert some force with my left arm. For example, last night I was scrubbing a pot with my right hand and bracing the pot with my left. That made my pacemaker site...

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
