Hi Again,
I`m still having these funny feeling when not really doing much. I`m fine when active and quite happy with my exercise program.
This has been on going since repairs to broken wire 11 months ago. Nobody seems to find anything wrong and I`ve had several settings on the Pm . I have noticed recently when checking my BP and HR when relaxed the HR some times reads lower than the base PM setting of 70 . If taking my pulse I have missed beats . How does the PM read these? This has on...

Hello everyone, I just had a two month checkup after pacemaker implant. They finally got my meds right and my settings are good but when I asked if I could lift weights I was told not over 35lbs. My husband asked how long this weight restriction would be in effect she said forever. I can never lift over 35 lbs. Does this sound right? She said that I might pull out leads with heavier lifting.

Hi,
I am a 38 year old with a dual chamber pacemaker. I had it recently put in back in September and then had an ablation for junctional tachycardia. They were able to fix the junctional tachycardia with the ablation. I am very active and work out a lot. I ran on the treadmill this morning and ended up blacking out about 20 minutes into my run and got some nasty abrasions, luckily nothing worse. I've noticed that my heart goes into this fluttery, rapid feeling and then I lose my energy...

I took my first cycle class yesterday (3.5 weeks out).
I have worked out for the last couple weeks with elliptical, steppers etc and have felt to PM "kick in' and then sustain my heart rate@120 to 140.
I took a cycle class , took it fairly easy. Kept my heart rate under 140 ( I am 54 year old female). Then the HRM went to zero then stayed @ 70 for several minutes. I did back way off and just waited to see if the PM would take over. I feel like it did not. I hovered around 8...

Hi all ,
Still having trouble with my `low speed relaxed` mode. All seems fine when active and very pleased.
My immediate get up and go is really good but get these `funny feelings` when not really doing much. I also seem to be affected sometimes by small movements but not affected if riding my motorbike.
What is the difference between `Rate response`and `sensitivity` and can they be programmed separately?
I have a Boston Energen set DDIR 70.
Thanks

Hi!
First of all, I'm very glad to have found a place where people with PM/ICD share there experience!
I've had PM all my life, but a couple a years ago, my doctors told me to stop playing Handball because of possible collision, and now I was told to stop doing push-ups and bench pressing because of possible lead fail or twisting.
Some in the forum say to start slowly, but wether you start slowly or not couldn't it affect the leads? - I know the leads might be place...

I would like to use a foot massager but I have read conflicting opinions on whether or not using a foot massager can affect your pacemaker... Any thoughts on this?

I just got (12/17) my pacemaker. I've read comments from other pacemaker folks about golf and exercise activities. I'm an avid golfer (handicaps not great but I love the game) and really want to get back to the game soon. As well as the health club for weigh activities etc. Looks like golf will have to wait about 6 weeks or so. But, I'm not sure about bench presses and other weight lifting activities. I see a nurse next week to have the wound looked at. Then see the Dr. after the first of the ye...

I got a new treadmill and some programs required a chest strap heart monitor. Does any use this with their pacemaker ? The programs are used to target your heart rate.

I'm a very active person who works out 5 days a week and jogs. I was at the gym last week when I felt dizzy and fainted. I had a seizure and went into cardiac arrest luckily someone at the gym knew cpr and there was a defibrillator nearby. Drs have no idea what caused my heart to go into that lethal rhythm. They put in an icd yesterday and I'm in pain today. I've Made my depression worse by reading posts of ppl who said after the 6 weeks was up they couldn't go back to the gym. I know I should...

Hi,
I've had a pacemaker for over 4 years now and it's great but I wonder what effect it would have if I took up more strenuous exercise. Im 71 and out of condition although my weight is ok.

Almost 4 weeks post implant and am back running albeit slower than prior.
Post exercise I will get some soreness at PM site which lingers. Almost 48hrs since last gentle run and site still uncomfortable, not really painful. Due to run again this PM, any thoughts.
Am I placing self, PM wires at risk beyond discomfort?
Has anyone tried kinsie tape or similar in an attempt to restrict PM moving in its pocket?
Thanks Nick

Just completed my first cycling class since i had my pm implanted. What a great work out ! I had my procedure the end of October. I feel so great now, and ready to get rid of those extra pounds i gained when i was feeling so terrible. So glad i made the decision to get the pm. It has changed so many things for the better :) so glad to have input from others here when i first had the procedure done.
Would love some advice

I have been getting more into mountain biking over the past year and would like a shoulder pad to cover and protect my ICD. So far all of the protectors I have found protect the chest more or are full on DH body armor. As I do mostly single track and some minor enduro style riding so full body armor is a no go. Does anybody have any suggestions for lightweight shoulder/chest protector for my device? THANKS!
You know you're wired when...
You invested in the Energizer battery company.

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
