Going over upper limit

I teach aerobics and have had a pacemaker for 13 yeArs. Wish I found this site sooner. My rates are set at 60-140 when I exercise my average heart rate is at 152 and maxes at178 fairly consistently.
I just had the lower changed from 70-60. Is there an issue with consistently going over ????? And what range would be good for me?
I want the most out of workouts !

Thanks

Protection for pacemakers

Hi,

I am from England but hate rugby, however I have found that a "Gilbert Ladies Rugby Vest" provides perfectly placed padding (I am male). You should find them if you do an internet search. It is great for football/soccer. "Decathlon" do a man's rugby vest with front padding that just covers the implant.

I have also found some really light-weight body armour that I use for mountain biking - search on "ten ounce racing". I can actually wear the armour and vest togeth...

Hot temperatures - golfing

Hi all:

I've had an uneventful several months since my pacemaker was installed for Bradycardia. We winter in Florida and I play a lot of golf. I have noticed since the temperatures have risen in April as has the humidity, that I feel somewhat breathless and just a little woozy. Has anyone has these symptoms? It also feels as though the pacemaker is actually starting up. Mine is set to not allow the rate to fall below 60 but I was told it could go as high as I wanted during exercis...

Masters swimmer-junctional rhythm

I’m a competitive Masters swimmer, age 62, who has been experiencing episodes of slow HR (low 30s) junctional rhythm over the past 15 months. On average I experience about 3-4 episodes/month with each episode lasting, on average about 12 hours. I’m conscious of a slow, unsynchronised HR (uncomfortable), slight breathlessness, fatigue, but no syncope (yet). Probable causes is sick sinus (?plus high vagal tone). Prior to these junctional rhythm problems I had occasional episodes of AF/atrial...

What's Happening? - I like it!

New Medtronic VIVA XT CRT-D was implanted late Jan. this year, replacing a Consulta PM. Even though my EP optimized the timing while watching the "Echo" screen last month, it was tough for me to begin my exercise. The first 15 minutes were slow --- as if the device were not increasing my heart rate quickly enough. I would do an hours exercise on the treadmill @ 3.3 mph or so. Climbing a flight of stairs would have me panting when I reached the top. A fast trot of 50 - 75 yards would also leav...

resting heart rate

I`m hoping someone can throw some light on this problem.
18months now after mitral and tricuspid valve repair and Maze procedure and CRTD fitted. Generally all seems fine and work and exercise well(I`m 68 always been active). I`ve always had this funny feeling when resting as if something is mismatched.
Docs have tried different resting rates to see what happens 60/65/70 .
One thing that puzzles me and no one seems to have an answer is that if I take a brisk 30min walk and check B...

Fast swimming

Advice sought.
Ex swimmer. Keen master/ open water racer. Post VT I had a dual chamber icd fitted 4 months ago. Waited out the requisite 6 week no exercise period. Resumed swimming. Steady base of 12-15km a week over 4/5 hours. Felt fine and returning to being quite fit. Discovered now that I need both leads repositioned. Doctors who were unable to give very specific advice pre op now insist I'm to blame for over exertion. Am I?
Also read that a cephalic vein entry is better than the u...

Going off Sotalol?

So I had my yearly Echo and no events this year. In short, last year in March and April I experienced fainting episode while running and sustained vtach. I got an Icd and also on Sotalol 40 mg 2x per day. I continue to run and workout, not doing heavy mileage nor high intensity. I feel great. Docs say I can now come off the meds! I am interested in anyone else on here who has successfully come off meds, but are runners and athletes who still workout and have an ICD. Hope to hear from you! I have...

Exercise/Recovery

I had a dual chamber pacemaker put in this past Friday (4/10/15). Dr. told me the standard 4-6 weeks regarding excessive movements of left arm. However, he didn't seem to have a problem with me riding a stationary bike or running ie: any cardiovasular exercise not stressing left arm/shoulder or pulling on leads. He just said start out in moderation; no marathons. Does this sound pretty standard?

Also, how long did it take most of you to start feeling better w/more energy after pacema...

Clicking sound

Hello,

I hope this finds everyone well.
I have had my Medtronic in for 15months and feel really well.

My query is: I usually go for a 5-7km run every alternate days. For the past 10 days or so I have noticed a clicking sound just over the site of the pacemaker, like something is hitting somethin.
It's not painful just disconcerting. My pacemaker was last checked in Feb 2015 and all was good.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried to contact Me...

lead pulling while exercising

Hey everyone, need help understanding how these leads work while we exercise.

We are told not to raise our arms above our head for the first 6-8 weeks post op to help prevent a lead from becoming unattached. When we start working out again, my vice is crossfit, and lifting our arms are not still tugging at our inner heart wall? That just doesn't sound good. I guess im afraid im doing damage to my heart. Im only 2 weeks into this and still struggling with everything but thankfully thi...

Lead Pulling and Crossfit

Hey everyone, this is my first post to the site after just receiving my pacemaker a week ago today at he old age of 33. I have spent so much time reading on this site that I have actually been able to accept things now where just a few days before I thought this was a life sentence.

A quick background... just yesterday I was told to walk over and talk to a lady at church who has had a pacemaker for "years". THAT WAS A MISTAKE! She obviously has had nothing put pain and trouble with h...

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
