People do visit the chat room but it seems that they miss each other, and there is nobody to chat. Perhaps it would be good if those that wanted a chat visited there on the hour or thereabouts; that way at least if anybody is going to be there, they will be there.
Arm movement questions

Most of the literature warns about lifting and moving your arm above your head on the side where the PM is implanted. Does anyone know of any restrictions for lifting (like a 15 lb suitcase) using the arm on the side where the PM was not implanted? It has been about 12 days since I had the operation.
Thanks

My mother is experiencing a strange sensation with her new pacemaker. This is her third one and she has never experienced this before. Every three hours, she feels three thumps or pulses, around the clock. Her pacemaker model is Adapta made by Medtronic. Has anyone ever had this happen or knows of someone that has had this problem? Her cardiologist is puzzled by this and wants to give her a new lead and another pacemaker. She is 79 years old and is recovering from the other pacemaker surgery Aug...

Since my bypass surgery in February and then PM implanted in June, I seem to get stressed out a whole lot easier. I'll feel sick for two or three days. My cardiologist has told me there is nothing mechanically wrong with my heart. I've never had a heart attack. He tells me that I'll still have bad days from time to time but not to worry about them. He has told me to get my mind off how I feel and quit checking my bp all the time. He says when you check your bp too often you'll expect it to be hi...
Occasiona numb feeling in upper Diaphragm
My was installed in May. Healing has been pretty good.
Here's a question:
While driving across the US and Canada, I would notice a numbness kind of feeling in my upper diaphragm. No pain, just a numbness.
Has anybody else had this? I just feels so odd.
Thank You All

I just wanted to say thank you all very much for all the helpful and wonderful comments you have given me. I know things always look bad in the middle of the night. lol but actually things are starting to look up. I got my pacemaker on an emergency basis and was not expecting anything like this to happen at all. I was just feeling tired and exhausted lately at work and had no get up and go. I attributed it to the heat (it has been sooooo hot here in Georgia lately) and thought that was all...

I have just gotten a pacemaker implanted, only a week ago. It is really kind of scary and upsetting. But the pain is slowly going away and I do feel so much better than I have in a long time, that it is strange that I feel so depressed. Any suggestions would be appreciated
thank you

Hi everyone!! i just had a visit with my cardiologist yesterday. My pacemaker turned 15 in July and the battery is still going strong!! I feel very lucky about this, and I asked the pacemaker tech how long the longest pacemaker lasted. She said the longest she knew personally was 23 years. Does anyone know of one that lasted longer??? I'm just curious!!
Thanks!!!

Hi, I'm 35 female & had my second pacemaker in 2004 but when I had my first 1, I had problems with 1 of the leads, so when they did the second pacemaker they capped the lead to prevent further problems, thinking that everything was ok & working fine I was told during 1 of my check ups that again 1 of the leads were'nt working properly, so they put my appointments to every 3 months.
Also, I've just recently been having chest pains, specially around the area of where my wires lie, the kind o...

Hi Everyone -
I had a lovely email from sweet Valerie yesterday. She has had some continuing medical problems but managine okay. It is apparent she has a wonderful, loving, supportive family. She did send me a joke so I know she's still got that sense of humor and spirit. She lives about 15 miles from me as the crow flies, so we're hoping at some point we can meet up soon. I'm looking forward to also meeting her mom. For those of you who are new, when I had knee replacement surg...

I had pacemaker implanted on 08/16/07, set at 50. I stayed at 50+ till last night, when I had several pulse readings in the 40's. Panicked, of course, and called doc who said to keep it monitored and call office Monday morning. Went up to 50 after an hour, and still at 50+. Doc said that shouldn't have happened and didn't know why . . . not too reassuring. Should I panic? (I have been checking heart rate twice a day just as a precaution, and found the pulse in 40's just on a routine check....
