I am hoping someone has some knowledge on this subject. I had a PM implanted in December. My EP/surgeon told me that it would sense my respiration and respond accordingly when exercising, which I do a lot of. Many types but swimming is a primary. Due to what I can only describe as a screwup on the hospitals part, my original doctor did not do the surgery. I was assured that I would get the device intended for me. I have a Medtronic PM which at least one device tech and others on this forum sa...

Hello all
Have redone echo and 24hr holter 2 months post pacemaker and my LVEF still no change. I was cleared before these results to go back to CrossFit and gym. However the cardiologist still didn’t recommend weights even though I did explain what CrossFit was. Anyone who has gone back to exercise including weights?? What sort of limitations did you find?? Were you given any indication on max weights aside from if it hurts don’t do it?? I am doing more interval training wi...

I had my St. Jude Medical dual lead pacemaker implanted on February 6th of this year. I am now in my 5th week. How long should I wait until I do upper body workout with the circuit training at the gym? I don't use free weights. I use circuit training machines.
I feel good like I am ready. However, I am reading a lot of things on here about waiting 8 weeks.
I don't do heavy weights at all. I just want to firm up my upper body. Prior to getting a pacemaker, I became vegan an...

I know I’m extremely lucky and greatful for my PM, and this is a female vanity question - I exercise/train a lot, which I love, I’m 37, 5ft 4” and 70kg, last couple of months I have a bump showing in my leads, hospital check-up I was told it’s fine but last couple of weeks I’ve got bruising around the bump, does anyone else get this? Sometimes I get swelling but the bruising is new, today it’s really sore so I know it’s not ri...

Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum and have been reading through a number of post and comments - which has been super helpful! I’m hoping someone can comment on my situation below - wondering if anyone else has been really struggling with getting their activity levels back up to “normal” before the pacemaker?
I am 30 years old and had my pacemaker implant early September 2019. I was very active until the several months leading up to the surgery, where...

I got my PM 8 weeks ago and started back at the gym 2 weeks ago, weight and resistance training, and it seems my PM is protruding more on left side. I can see and feel the bumps (about 4) that the leads make. I am 5' 1" 120 lbs so not much body fat. Does exercise do that or is it just normal? Thanks so much for all theadvice, you all make this so much easier!

I am now 4 months post Biotronic implant, having been diagnosed (I believe) with SSS . Throughout my life I have been very active, including medium distance road-running (several marathons in my 50s and early 60s), cycling, weights, and more recently, recreational rowing (eights). In 2012, at the age of 80 I won the world indoor rowing competition (the "CRASH Bs" held in Boston MA) for my age group.
For most of my life my resting heartbeat has been in the order of 45 bpm; abou...

I am now 3 months post Medtrolnic implant, and until the past two weeks had other health issues that intefered with exercise. I am 66, and had SSS, with a resting rate of 40 and a max HR of 100. The PM is set to a resting rate of 60 and a max of 140, and the EP doc agreed to increase it to 155; but I wish he would set it to 170. Prior to developing SSS I would walk 6-8 miles a day 3-4 days a week, or 50 min on the elliptical.
The issue I have is that my HR rapidl...

I am getting my first pacemaker if a few weeks. Even though i am very active I suffer aflutter and svt and now slow heart rate. Just for extra fun. I also recently started getting high blood presure and vomiting.
The cardiologist said this is the next step.
I live in Australia and love SCUBA diving and muay thai. I figure no more sparing but hopping to be able to dive.
I have read st judes do a model that goes at 7atm. What else should i be asking the cardi...

I have been in contact with Berlin re the depth rating of my Eluna 8 DR-T. Berlin -"... your Eluna 8 DR-T pacemaker has been tested to withstand an ambient pressure up to 150 kPa [1.5 bar]. These tests have been conducted so that the physician can decide whether or not the patient can have hyperbaric oxygen therapy in a pressure chamber. The above mentioned value corresponds to 5m of diving depth..."
This depth is very disappointing, but better than not being able to div...

Thanks to everyone for your imput into my questions regarding limitations post Pacer implant, but I have another question. I hear a lot about the wires breaking. I understand what was said about activity, but how do the wires play a factor into what I can do and what I can't? Are there certain things that I need to consider so that doesn't happen?

I just got a dual chamber pacer for a second degree type 1, Wenkebach rhythm last Wednesday. I enjoy working outside on my 5 acre property. I have two horses and I do heavy yard work. I enjoy swimming, scuba, and some moderate weight lifting. I also work as a nurse in a trauma ICU, which can get physical. What can I expect as far as limitations? I'm concerned how this will effect my lifestyle. Does anyone have suggestions, experience or advice?

Apologies for length of this post:
I am interested in knowing if my experience is shared by others. I am a recent (12/10/2018) of a pacemaker. I am 69 years old and very active. I probably do 3-4 times the recommended 150 minutes/week on a regular basis. I have been a swim coach for 40+ years so swimming is a primary exercise but I also bike, paddle, XC ski, hike and I run some. I have had a very low resting HR for quite a while (low-mid 40s). In recent years it seemed...

Does anyone know the current depth rating for the latest Biotronik Eluna 8 DR-T? I have written x2 + phoned the Aus. distributers + they tell me they need to wait for Berlin to tell them. As these units have been available for some time, surely they must know what depth they can be taken to without being crushed or non-operational. My cave diving + deep wrecking diving days are obviosly over, but it would be nice if I could still dive shallow coral reefs! My Cardiologist + EP have no id...

Hi all, just joined the club (though I have been eligible since 1981). I know both of these topics have come up before but was wondering if there were any updates ...
1) scuba diving - we are going on holiday next week and I would really like to do an introductory dive. Any advice?
2) skydiving - have always wanted to do this;my only concern is impact on the site when the ripcord is pulled. Has anyone done it (and did they use padding)?
All and any feedback gratefully...

It's been 35 days since my PM placement. I want to know if I can submerge myself in water? Or if I should wait and keep the scar dry...?

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
