Hi All
I have just found this site and have been reading a lot of your posts and now don't feel so alone.
My PM was fitted 2 year ago I am 47 and have just had a check up today, I was told I have used it less than 1% in past year - I was so nervous I forgot to ask what this meant.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
kind regards
Christine

Hi All, Have an interrogation on tues.with a new medtronic rep.
Any thoughts on the right questions to ask, and how many kinds of settings can be checked or changed. H/R seems to peak at 120 and that is not as much as I would like. P/M used to be 135+ and it was supposed to be moved up to 150h/b during my last meeting with a different rep. The report does not give any info on the settings as I see it. I currently have a duel lead Medtronoc p/m for sss.
thanks -Philman

I saw my EP today; been 14 months with my "little titanium cookie." He and I are both happy with the lack of fainting in my life post-PM, so now I get to reduce my telephone-check-ups to every 6 months and office visits to annually!
If any of you have had false-diagnosis and wrong medications for decades, then you'll understand my glee at not being epileptic and not taking medications that never controlled what you didn't have.

I have a Biotronics Pacemaker and am on a cardio monitor which is hooked up through our telephone line. Does anyone have a monitor and if so, do you travel outside the area with it? We are going to Canada in couple weeks and I am curious if once it is hooked up in the condo if there are international phone charges for the reporting that goes out every 24 hours. Thanks

Ok, you know the Holter and the blood test I had done? Well, I was supposed to get the results no later than this week, but nothing. What should I do- call, wait?????????????????? Anyway, just don't want to sound pushy and I don't want to seem like I don't care. Oh yeah, my stress level is through the roof again because I'm taking the PSAT today and on top of that I have a cold/ allergies and that dumb adrenaline rush feeling again. I wish my test results would come back- I'm tired of feeling li...

I had a phone checkup this week and just got my copy of the report in the mail. (I have them trained to mail it to me immediately). All is looking very well other than that the battery life is down to 1-2 years. Time flys. I've had mine for almost 4 yrs so the 5 yr average is catching up.
I have one more phone checkup in Jan and then an office check in April.
The reason for writing all this is to share my plans at the next office visit. I will let them know that I expect to hav...

Saw the EP doc today and he will take my pacer out on 11/18. I know this is what I wanted for a long time but I am a bit confused as well. I mean I have had this thing in me for the past 11 years and I kind of feel sad to not have it in me anymore. Does this make any sense to anyone? I also don't know how I can readjust to life without the pacer as I don't handle changes too well.

Its been 2 years since my last check-up. I've had this PM since 7th grade and now i'm 21. The downfall of not having health care nor any money at all. My life has been up and downs for the past 4 years. I live with my grandmother, struggling to get into college. I lost ties with my mother and never had a father figure, and my grandmother is an awesome person. Still working for the government after 30 years, but hasn't had any money to help me along with these tough times. This is my 2nd pacer, s...

Hi - I am 47 and had my pacemaker implanted in December of 2005. I have not seen my questions asked anywhere in this forum - but maybe I am just missing them;-)
My questions are - - - Is there an average percent of usage for a pacemaker - what I mean is, when I go to the pacemaker clinic, the technician tells me that my pacemaker is working fine, and the rate of usage is 88%. Last time I was in to the clinic, the technician was concerned because the usage had...

Hello Everyone how have you been? Things have been crazy down here in Florida and only seem to be getting Crazier. I have midterms and Biketoberfest Starts on the 16th. Just when I thought things were going to slow down. But anyways, I went for my Check up in September. Things seem to be going great. My little buddy pacer has kept me Alive through 7000 Heart Pauses. My tech also told me that is shows that my Heart Pauses alot at night while im sleeping. Scary. I was glad to find this out but it...

I am curious how Pacemaker Settings influence Blood Pressure?
I read on this forum someone discussing having High Blood pressure and that their doctor worked to adjust the PM settings and that regulated their high blood pressure.
Currently my pressure is 150/100 consistently. I am taking a low dose beta blocker and lotrel 5/10mg and my pnumbers are still high.
I am headed to the cardiologist office tomorrow morning to see what he can do.
Any suggestion...

I am taking 40 mg of coreg (Beta Blocker) and my pressure is still high.
Prior to pacemaker implant I was taking Lotrel, which is a combo pill consisting of ace inhibitor and calcium channel Blocker kept my pressure around 130/80 which is good. However, my EP took me off it after implant.
Yesterday I went out to a golf event as a spectator. and
came home feeling funny. I checked my Blood pressure and it was 177/116.
I called my cardiologist who put me on L...

I change Doctors for obvious reasons. With the Doctor who implanted my pacemaker(and hurt my arm in the process)use to have me go every two months, with my new Dr. is every six months. Is that ok??? Can this be done with a phone line? I heard that some people just call in to have their pacemaker check....

PM 3mos, r/r turned off one month ago. Now I have Fainting feeling while playing tennis or running,.. H/R does not increase with exercise. Setting moved up from 50 to 55 and stays there. When r/r was on H/R was 50 to 150. Have had several a/fribs as a result which last for 4-5 hours. Could B/B be problem as I am trying to wean off from 50mg to 25mg.
This a great, informative site and I thank you all for any thoughts.

When we have a PM implant, is there a setting that could be in a constant position that would not allow the h/r to increase with exercise? If so, when rate response has been turned off, there would be problems . When I took my stress test it was with the r/r on, and with the good results I was cleared to turn off the r/r. I guess I'm thinking they should have checked me with it off during the test. Is it possible that any settings are off? Not that confident with Tech, and doc hard to get...

Hi all:

I went in for a consult and ended up in the hospital that day.Pulse 39 missed beats.. . No real preparation and I have gone through a gambit of emotions. All I can say is this website is wonderful. Because of some of the postings I read after getting dizzy in a presentation yesterday I followe...

Hi!
I have had my PM for a little over a year now. I got the PM after a couple cardiac arrests caused by sick sinus syndrome. I've had very few problems since recovering from the initial implantation. I did have my PM moved under the muscle about 6 months ago and since then, I even forget I have it. I exercise regularly and am 40 years old, generally I've been feeling great.
I had my PM interrogated earlier today at my cardio's office. I only pace about 10% of the time in the atr...

Hi Everyone
I was wondering if you all think it would be a good idea for me to go a check up with my honey. He has a pm for 2 years now and I am not sure when his next check up is but would it be wise to go so I could see and hear what happens. We have not talked about it yet I was feeling you out first to see if I should ask or not. I have never been before but I feel that I need to be more proactive and supportive with this. I just was wondering....
God Bless

I had a ICD check on Tuesday. It should last until 2011. The next ICD I get should be the bi-ventricular one.
My cardiologist still keeps talking about trying to improve my condition and suggested a number of scenarios: different meds, altering the device pacing, and/or adding another lead into the bottom left side of her heart. Right now the lowest I pace is 90 bpm. It would be interesting to see what the lowest is for other people.
If they decide to put in another lead...

During the first 2 weeks after PM implant I felt my heart speed up periodically, in addition I had frequent palpitations. It felt un natural so I became alarmed. I called my EP who insisted I wear the 24 hr holter. WHile wearing the holter I recorded 60
palpitations within the 24 hr period. I turned in the Holter on a Friday and called my General Practitioner who got me in immediately. He gave me a beta blocker and the palpitations went awa within a day.
On Monday my EP called...
