Bodybuilding restrictions please help

Hey guys I'm an 18 year old who had a heart attack due to congenital ab third grade block and had to get a pacemaker implanted just 2 months ago. Before this I used to do 6hrs of excercise a day doing both power lifting and bodybuilding and occasionally chalistenics. Now I'm back at it but have a fear of lead damage and don't know what I can or can't do. I've removed chalistenics completely as well as heavy bench pressing or heavy military pressing. I've also removed E...

Return to cycling

Hi,

I had a pacemaker fitted due to heart block 2 weeks ago. I'm a keen road cyclist - usually on the bike 2 hours a day during the week. At weekends I go windsurfing. I'd rate my previous level of fitness as in the top few percent for my age (43). The heart block came completely out of the blue - no warning signs at all.

The cardiologist is aware of my avid cycling. He's said to stay off the bike for 3 months to avoid damaging the wires. Reading all the doc...

Elevated HR during first few minutes of workout.

Hello,

I've noticed recently my HR ramping up during my warmups while on the indoor cycling platform (Zwift). Returns to 'normal' as workout progresses. Any red flags there?

CRT-P Settings for Cycling

Does anyone have any information on the range of settings on a Medtronic CRT-P.?

I am now 75, I have always tried to keep fit but in 2007 I had a triple by-pass and then in 2018 I went into full AF-b. Since then, I have had 2 Cardioversions and they both only lasted days. I have been treated with Amiodarone for the last 18 months and it did stop the AF-b. However, in mid-March I started with Atrial Flutter and my heart rate has been 85/95 bpm at rest, before it was normally 45/50bpm. Al...

Bowling

I have been an avid bowler for over 40 years.  Bowling 3 to 4 times a week. I noticed my speed when bowling went from 14 to 8 miles per hour.  Knew it was an issue with my heart based on my heart rate was always under 50  Had a BS Accolade dual chamber put in on 5/20.  Excuse me if termanology isn't correct - new to everything.  Had a stent put in on 4/06.  Heart conditions started in November.

I have a few questions about getting back to bowling....

Compression boots for circulation

Has anyone here been told not to use comprssion boots because of their pacemaker? I assume it would be fine because the legs are not next to the pacemaker. Hoping they might help leg circulation but its a stab in the dark.

Left handed tennis and pickleball player

I had the pacemaker installed in my left shoulder. I didn't realize until recently  there was an option to install on the non-dominant side. So can I play tennis or pickleball ever again? The serving motion in tennis seems particularly stressful on the pacemaker leads. Anyone in the same situation as me?

Skiers w pacemaker

Hi.

Just had a biotronik edora dual lead implanted due to bradycardia. I am a serious skier, and while ski season is wrapped up until winter I am wondering if there are any pacemaker skiers out there, anything special you do to condition off season or any advice ahead of next season. My cardiologist said ok for me to continue the sport. (Of course!)

Beta Blockers

I am on 40 mg of propanolol for hand tremors, not bp.  My docs reassure me that this amount is small, and with a PM will not affect my heart rate.  While it has been effective in reducing my hand tremors, I do worry about it affecting my HR.

I am on a single lead Accolade and 100% paced.

Thanks,

Mike

3500 Ram Dually

Pacemaker and running

Hello. I had a pacemaker for 3 years, the diagnosis was AV block grade 3 with a very low heart rate. With the pacemaker, I have largely been able to resume my running hobby. When I run, it sometimes happens after a certain time with a given intensity that the pacemaker changes mode or works in a different way. The consequence is that the symptom from before the pacemaker installation and with AV block 3 diagnosis returns. Others who have experienced this? Can there be a pacemaker setting?

Modeling Boston Scientific's RightRate Pacing Algorithms

Hello Everyone:

I am posting to see if anyone can help me develop a model that will replicate the pacing that my BS Accolade pacemaker produces when I am exercising -- specifically when riding a road bike.

BACKGROUND:  Three years ago I was diagnosed with AFIB, and have gone through two ablations.  I am now on beta blockers -- to protect against recurring SVT's -- which are causing a lowered heart rate.  Last July my cardiologist implanted...

em interferance with e-bikes???

Hi all: I'm considering getting an e-bike. However, would the electric motor interfere with the pacemaker? I want to be putting effort into the ride but have the assurance of getting home that the motor would provide. However, I don't want to be without the use of the pacemaker on the ride. I am 70 and pretty fit but definately not an athlete!  BTW, biking on a graveled trail is more effective for stimulating the pacemaker than is biking on a smooth road where the pacemaker may n...

Ultimate Frisbee Diving/Layouts

Hi all 👋

I've recently started playing Ultimate Frisbee, does anyone know it would be safe to do layouts like these (https://youtu.be/eFK3oOWIdxc) with my pacemaker (if unable to watch the video, its like diving forwards and landing on ground, I guess like a try dive in rugby)? Would wearing a guard make it safer?

I'm 99.9% sure I shouldn't so didn't want to ring up the doctors, but just wondering if this is the sort of contact I should avoid or if doctors me...
