I got my PM almost 2 yrs ago (12/20/10). My electrophisiologist who implanted the device recommends strongly that I do not use my rowing machine. He's afraid the leads will unset. Is that a reasonable position, or is he being overly cautious?

Hi! I'm 16 years old and had my first PM put 3 weeks ago and everything is going great but i used to play volleyball and i really miss it! I was actually starting to play with a university even though i'm still in high school before I started feeling dizzy. I asked a nurse if i could play volleyball again and she told me she didn't think so because of the risks of a direct hit on the PM...
I REALLY want to keep playing... Is anything i could do to play again? If there is, how long would it...

Well it's that time of the year again , basketball season ..... I've officiated for about 15 years now .... I'm 38, and received my pacer on Dec 16, 2011. I'm really scared to get back on the court and have another episode like last year while refereeing ball. My heart shot up to 240 bpm for about 4 hours , was shocked back to a normal rhythm. Any suggestions on dealing with this ???

New member here. I have a Medtronic Adapta pm that was implanted (left side) Jan. 2011. No issues with the pm to report at this time. My question is about my left shoulder. It's been almost 2 years since implant and my left shoulder is still very weak. I've been doing numerous different types of upper body workout, and mid-way through my reps I always end up with this intense sharp pain in my shoulder. It takes about 5 min before it goes away, and it's not the normal muscle burning fatigue type...

In case anyone is interested:
I purchased a Polar FT1 Heart Rate Monitor at Radio Shack today for $24 bucks and change! And it works with my pacer....It was a half off sale...
Not many bells and whistles but at that price, who cares?

Just been for a jab, waiting for it to kick in so I can get some sleep. For a person who avoids meds I'm sure I'd rattle if you shook me at the mo. Constant pain around the PM site. Can't lift my arm above waist height or cross the mid-line without pain. ( I talk with my hands and this is most annoying!)
Even washing my face at the baisin, driving and drying my hair are becoming impossible tasks.
Mostly the pain is around the leads and refers up the neck across the chest to where I im...

I cycle to and from work. Do you think I will be safe to start cyling again 14 days after my operation ? Its a fairly short distance , just a bit paranoid of the leads not being secure enough and working there way loose :-/

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
So I had the Medtronic Adapta installed on 11/9/12 for AV Block (exercised induced) that I have been dealing with for a few years. My HR would not go above 80 no matter what my activity was.
Since implant; a lot of other symptoms have corrected such as yard work, speed walking, etc... much better with lots more energy and no symptoms anymore!
Now, I have recently started to jog again - nice and slow as I am basically starting all over again...

My heart pounds and my chest hurts in the middle of my sternum after I chop firewood swinging an axe or working hard with upper body muscles like shoveling fast. The pain doesnt last long but I have to slow down the physical for a little while I have SSS and my pacer has been in for 20 months now.

While exercising yesterday, after only about 5 minutes, my heart rate shot up to 182 and stayed at 177 even though I had to completely stop to get it to go back down. My upper limit is set at 150. I monitor it but it NEVER went that high before. Taking the day off today from exercise since it did not feel so good.

Hello everyone...
In a nutshell I had lead displacement at first checkup after pacemaker implant.
Probably not my fault but who knows eh!
So it's been 10 days now since new lead in place and I am not doing any heavy jobs like hoovering but now I am not sore I am doing general housework and things, but I had a thought...surely the action of shrugging my shoulder is the same as lifting it above shoulder height? (I never shrugged after implant but did so the other d...

So I am 21 and got a pacemaker 7 weeks ago. I am ready to start working out again but I have always worked out at the gym with my husband but because of the surgery we are so tight on money we can't afford to waste money on the childcare at the daycare. I want to go without the husband but do I mention something to someone at the gym like if anything happens I have a pacemaker? Then there are different workers at different times of the day so is that something they would put in my info? That is...

I have an interesting question for you guys. Before my pacemaker I would go to the gym and I would really really sweat a LOT! But since my pacemaker and now that I'm going to the gym again, I am having to start over with my routine. So, I start by doing 10 minutes in the sauna, then I get on the treadmill. Before the surgery I could do 1 to 2 hours on a treadmill at 3.5 to 7 mph. (Yes I'm a very large person so let me tell you that was a great workout for me), I know most if not all of you can d...

Hi There..
I'm 29 years old and recently have been diagnosed with bifascicular block - right bundle branch block & left posterior hemi block. I have been recommended to have a rate response pacemaker inserted as a back up should my heart ever drop below a certain rate due to my conduction disease or a vasovagal episode. I have planned to have this installed early January 2013.
I am incredibly passionate about my fitness - I ran a marathon last year and now have a huge focus...

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
