I know this may be a morbid question but what does my family do with my unit when I pass away which may be soon. The device says "Property of Medtronic" but can this almost new device be given to someone else with a Pacemaker ? Must it be a Medtronic Pacemaker ? I am not talking about ANY exchange of money-only making life with a PM a little easier to handle for someone who finds it difficult to get out to appointments in Midwest Winters. Using this device gives the user freedom-. ie less Dr....

I had a Pacer put in November of 2013. Everything seem fine until recently. I had a little trouble doing real strenuous things. No pain just a strange feeling. My Heart Doc had me do a chemical stress test and it has been determined that my Ejection Fraction went from 55 which is ideal to 40 after the pm which is low. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it coincidence?

Has anyone else experienced needle like sensations at the pacemaker implant site? Mine feels dozens of pins stabbing me. I called the cardio office and talked to them and they told me they have never had anyone with those symptoms. They only happen at work because there is a furnace/generator room by my work area and my employer is remodeling and they leave the door open all the time. I can get away from it most of the time, but when I can't the needles start again. Docs office doesn't seem co...

I had my pacemaker placed in 2008. I had hyper thyroid and it did damage to my heart. I had fast and slow heart rates and they had to place my pacemaker and then two days later I had radiation for my thyroid. The radiation was suppose to eliminate the fast heart rate. And it did for many years. In the past 2 years I have been having this feeling of fluttering of the heart and my heart feels like it racing fast followed with shortness of breath. It only lasts for a few seconds to minutes then pas...

I'm a 53 YO male, REAL go getter, A type Big time nothing stops me or gets in my way, if I get down (mentally) its only for a day. I have COPD chronic bronchitis, with coughing fits even when no bronchitis present. Nevertheless, went to Dr. for getting dizzy, when driving or resting, to the point Id pull over to the side till it passed, Like suddenly drunk at times then tired for the rest of the day, but never had any chest pains, Thought problem was my lungs, not enough oxygen. Wore a mod. for...

yes I mis-spoke when I said harness, meant sling. My cardio. is pretty old school from what I can tell...he wanted me in sling x 7 days until wound exam. having medical background and info. resources (and a bit of common sense) i'm not buying into it. started "appropriate exercises". Shoulder is most definitely impinged and will now have to work at getting r.o.m. Wish more attention paid to post. pm. issues.brent

My cardiologist removed pacemaker and leads on 5 9 2014 due to infection. I was in the hospital for five days with antibiotics. The Jackson Pratt drain was removed, later same day a hematoma developed. I went to ER where surgery was performed opening pacemaker pocket open, staples removed incision made to drain everything. I was treated in the hospital for another five days and sent home with wound vac and infusion of antibiotics. Have others had similar complications?

It is now 14 weeks since my pacemaker operation. It is on demand for when beats go below 40 per minute. The pacemeker usage will be very limited.
I have now resumed normal activities, golfing (walk 2 nine hole rounds per week), light hand weights, home repairs, gardening etc. As a senior I do not usually lift anything over 50-60 pounds.
In the pacemaker area I have a tightness/uncomfortable feeling but was told this is from having " a piece of metal in your chest" In other words it is...

Just looking for some advice.....again!! I'm 5 weeks post op with 1st pacemaker and I'm feeling really good. Everything seems to be going really well except a tiny little bit of my wound has become very red and uncomfortable. It's only the very tail end of the wound so I don't want to run to my GP but I'm a little anxious as I've taken a couple of sweats today. Any one else had experience of this... Feels a little hot and itchy but just a tiny part of the wound. Just started exercising again and...

I think my pacemaker(implanted last June), works likes gangbusters! After it was installed I began to get ectopics and at one point it seemed like my old enemy,a fib, was visiting again. Now the nurse in telemetry, took me and showed me the monitor she was watching. It showed irratic beats alright but she pointed out a solid sinus wave that was going on behind the forest of crazy lines that afib produces. I took a few deep breaths and my a fib (if that's what it was) subsided;leaving my hea...

HI I have a Medtronic Pacemaker. Paced on the low end for sick sinus syndrome, bracacardia, near snyoscope. Had surgery recently and Heart Dr said , I am not dependent so no problem. Told they put a magnet over the pacer, and it is not turned off. (was confused as to how this worked and concerned that it would not be turned off) well anyways, I do not know much about the pace maker and not told much. After the surgery when the magnet was taken off, The medtronic rep left. The Nurse had trouble...

I had my most recent pacemaker (I have had 6) in March 2012, and in September 2013 I started having problems with my arm swelling and excruciating pain. I believe the pacemaker has moved but the doctor says it has not. This pacemaker is the first time I had a three lead system.
The doctors decided in September 2013 that the swelling might be blood clots and put me on Xarelto. I have seen a lot of doctors including the surgeon who put this in... everyone says that the pacemaker is...

My device is just for if I enter VF, so I do not receive regular little shocks like pacemaker therapy. Lately I have noticed little blips in my chest that feel just like when my doc checks my device. I read something on here about someone feeling the same after working out. Do you think that is what is happening to me maybe? I work out usually every day for an hour however I JUST felt it and I just woke up! Any input would be so wonderful and I appreciate everyone on here <3

My baby girl had ohs at 7 months old. After surgery she was in complete heart block. 2 weeks later she got her pacemaker. She's now 11 months old. We've had several checkups everything is fine with that. However the last few months she wakes up from a dead sleep screaming bloody murder. Her belly seems to have a slight twitch. Does anyone know if her pacemaker could cause this??? She's not rolling onto her belly so I know she's not waking up because its uncomfortable to her. Thanks to anyone t...

Cardiac patient with pacemaker. While wearing a set of wireless headphones today felt faint... Took pulse and it was 46 BPM.. Pacemaker is set for 60 BPM. Is it possible the blue tooth wireless head phones interfered with my pacemakers computer and cause it to stop firing... Has anyone else out there had problems with the pacemaker. Mine is st. Jude model 5156..

12/2009- first ICD all well till April 2013 when L lead failed to capture and had to be replaced. Lead replacement created huge hematoma, eventually inflammation and eruption of site lead to ICD removal and IV Vancomycin Infusions till healed. Installed new ICD Aug 30, 2013 on other side of the chest and healing began and looked good till end of 3rd week - then inflammation and eventual rupture at site. More Vanco infusions and antibiotics, refused to heal, finally removed second Pacemaker 12...

Well I had mine done 4 25 14, and I must have had a bind shaver,
who missed 5 spots one real big one right under the pacemaker,
than i get another blind nurse to put more very sticky bandages on
top of the missed thick hairs all around my new pacemaker.
Of course i could not sleep at Yale 20 York street New Haven
because of all the dam noise and alarms going off I leave with
almost no pain. then i go home, and go visit my...

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
