A new catagory

Just a suggestion for a possible new catagory of postings for this site - "Reference Library". A couple of weeks back someone posted a Q&A session between a cardiologist and some students about Pacemakers. I also remember seeing another post of someone's surgeon's report of the procedure of implanting a PM. These things would invaluable to someone who's just gotten a PM (or will soon be getting one).

Tired still

Hi Its me moaning minnie.

Still feeling tired. When does this get better am now in my eight week and thought I would have more energy.

Went home to england for a holiday and visited an English cardiologist to try and understand the ins and outs of pacemakers. He wants to see the test results from France to see if I really need the pacemaker. he feels that if it is only the slow beat at night then he would not have installed one! Which one do you believe French or E...

Fingers Crossed!

I posted a few times about how I had my pacemaker removed following an infection last november. Well yesterday I got a new one implanted! I was on a waiting list but I rang the hospital and they gave me a cancellation so I got it done yesterday.
It went well and so far I feel really well. The new pacemaker is on my right hand side so I have a new scar, the old one was on the left. It's a St Jude Microny so it's tiny. I'm feeling much better already as I had been very tired due to the bradyc...

I would like to apologize

I dont want to stir anything up again, but I feel the need to apologize for posting some of the comments I did about the joke. Going through a lot right now, which still is not an excuse, but just wanted to say I am sorry.

Spasms from Biventricular Pacemaker

Hi...

Since I've had my AV node ablation and biventricular pacemaker implanted last Oct, at times I seem to get spasms in my heart area and around my stomach. Everything will seem fine, then all of a sudden I feel my chest start pulsating for no particular reason. I mentioned it to my EP and he and a tech readjusted the settings on my PM and it seemed somewhat better. He said the other alternative would be to go in and try to relocate my leads. I try to get used to these spasms si...

Hi Everyone,

I love this support group but, I was wondering if anyone has actually started one up in their area? I am thinking about doing it.If anyone would have any info they could share with me about this...that would be great.

I went into my MD yesterday because I have to have surgery next week & they wanted me to have a physical before I do this. e informed me that not only did my heart stop for 19 sec, but also 2 times for 30 sec. I find this rather disturbing that my...

Appointment

I have an appointment with my EP tomorrow. I have been having episodes of palpitations, shortness of breath, and dizziness while at rest. I have been wearing an event recorder for the last couple of weeks, but from what the recordings show, my heart rate is only increasing...there is no sign of any other problems. I know that the symptoms that I am experiancing are not normal, but I don't know what else to do. I am just at a loss...I am not able to function during these episodes, and it takes me...

Feel uncomfortable after pm check

I was supposed to have my first telephone pacemaker check today, but I had to get mt pro time checked anyway, so they did it while I was in the office. I find the feeling that I get when the magnet is used to speed up my heart uncomfortable. It's been a few hours and my chest still doesn't normal - not real bad, but still uncomfortable. Anybody else experience this?

Just a Suggestion

Why don't we just set a time when we would like to meet and chat. It seems that everytime I go in the Chat room no one is there. People come and go, but keep missing each other. If someone would post and suggest having a chat at a certain time on that day, then maybe all who wanted to chat would come in the room at that time.

I have been in the room several times and only once have chatted with someone. it was a very nice experience. I am a new chatter and I think this adds to...

Now I am being scheduled for EP study with poss ICD implantation. I am totally dependent on my pacer. My concern is that I do not have insurance, lost it because I could not afford the $...

VT's with pacemaker

HI all,
I tried to post yesterday, but I don't know what happened to my post?
I had a pacemaker implanted last august for bradycardia. In January I had ear surgery and a few days later I developed fast heart rates. I went to the hospital twice but nothing was found. Then they turned on the monitor part of the pacemaker and I just had it read last friday. The cardiologist said that I had 8 VT"s from february 22 until 29th. Several a day. He had told me that the HR was 130, but when I w...

PM shift and heart rate

PM Manuals online

Manuals for Medtronic devices are actually posted online.

If you want the actual manuals, call customer support and ask them to guide you through the website to access this information.

For me, it was a life-saver because I discovered my surgeons did not understand the devices bioelectronic parameters and one of them installed totally inappropriate and dangerous settings.

I just found out that a friend of mine who is 18 has a right bundle branch block (rbbb). He is going in for a cath to check for any blockage and to see if he needs a pacemaker. Does anyone have this? and what are his chances of needing a pacemaker?
