Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here is weighing lifting after having a pacemaker implanted, such as bench pressing, arm curls, back and shoulders,I’m 25 and weight lifting is something I do mostly every day and wish to go back to that .I had a pace maker planted 2.5 months ago.
thanks in advance for the feedback.

Had second ICD put in May 29th. Checkup last week looked good. Have a new EPI, but that's for another post. Anyway, went on our boat yesterday and was trying to teach my son how to waterski. I wanted to get in the water myself and show him but I hesitated because I was worried if I let go of skis once I got up and slammed into the water that I would dislodge my leads. I am still a little sore around the site, but that's not a big issue. A...

On-X aortic valve installed on 3 Nov 2017 due to BAV; Pacemaker installed a few days later because of permanent heart block. I'm naturally paced according to the reports, and I'm trying to determine if the PM is optimized and if there any improvements possible. I've not had a deep technical discussion with the EP or Boston Sci people, but will in the future. Next office visit is some months away, though.
Current situation
I've been biking and weig...

Medtronic Axure XT DR implanted 2 weeks ago. I note a lot of discussion about Medtronic and the accelerator sensor. Does this model also sense respiratory rate or anything else? I note that my PM increases HR more going downhill (faster walking) than uphill.
Scheduled Doctor visit is next week.

I have had a pacemaker fitted 2 weeks ago and have started exercising by walking and on an indoor bike. I feel great and want to start exercising my upper body.
What arm and upper body exercises are preferable during the initial 6 weeks post op when one cannot lift the elbow above the shoulder?
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks
Laurie

So I got my pacemaker on June 5/18. My cardiologist said I'd be able to scuba dive afterwards, and resume all normal functions. I saw him today, July 23, and he told me I could go ahead, everything's good. He was unsure as to the depth the device could withstand, so I called the manufacturer's technical folks and asked.
I was told that the device is rated for 4 atmospheres of pressure. The Tech man was also clear that I should have the blessing of my cardiologist prior...

I am a 67 year old lifelong runner. Went into persistent afib 18 months ago. I have had 2 ablations and a Medtronic Advisa DR2 dual chamber pacemaker implanted 8 weeks ago for bradycardia. My afib load is about 2%, but about half the time when exercising. I have seen some posts that imply that there may be settings that can reduce the incidence of, or interrupt afib during exercise. I see my EP and Medtronic rep in two weeks so I was hoping that any of you that have this particular...

Lately, I have been having issues while hiking. Steep inclines are not an issue, but once I start climbing stairs, I get all the signs I am about to pass out. It takes about 20 minutes for my symptoms to cease and I am left incredibly shaky. I have not lost consciousness yet, however. I have not had this issue since before I had my PM implanted in 2011. This last episode, I had the foresight to bring a BP cuff. While my vision was too blurry to read, I am told it read 129/30. Will be see...

I'm new to the Pacemaker Club and figured who better to ask, then people who actually have one. What should I expect when I return to weight lifting and any advice? Prior to surgery, would lift 4 times a week plus 20 minutes cardio. Since surgery, been limited to 40-60 minutes cardio. I'm 57 years old and miss that part of excercising and have been counting down the days (12) till I can start. Thank you!

Had a pacemaker since 2012 for slow heartbeat due to third degree heart block, then after a couple of years they checked my ejection fraction and found out it was below 40% , they said it was due the to two-lead pacemaker I had and needed to have a biventricular one installed, had ejection fraction checked twice within New one and is up to 60% now but still can’t do any exercise or physical activity for longer than a few minutes, actually I was better with the old pacemaker, and before...

When I exercise I can not get my heart rate to go higher than 101-105. I know it should be higher than that. I then feel shortness of breath with my oxygen level going down. Also my heart actually feels like it is going much much faster.
I tried to ride a stationary bike and was going 20mph after 10 minutes hr was 105
Last week I had to climb 4 flights of stairs. Heart rate 101 afterwards.
Can anything be done for this. I’m not on any beta blockers or...

7 months In I still get exhausted after exercise. My EF has improved to 65% and my cardio sort of hinted that we might be able to reduce meds in my 12 month check up. Does that happen? I can excerise moderately but then pay with three days or more of exhaustion. If I just walk slowly and do some easy stuff I’m OK, but even after weeks don’t feel any increased capacity. I feel good enough that I want my old life back but...

I’m 5 week’s post implant, Medtronic Azure HIS Bundle pacing. I have chronic Afib so I’m 100% paced. Resting rate 50bpm, max 140 and ADL set at 95 and accelerometer set at low. I’ve been riding my spin bike for several weeks with HR of 85-105...to go much higher I would need to spin at a quicker rate where my PM would realize I’m exercising....more rocking. Today I went for first ride outside. The roads in my subdivision or very rough...chip sea...

I am currently using an Apple Watch, and for a few years prior wore a Fitbit. I saw in a prior comment that someone could tell when their heart was in flutter from their Fitbit. I often get alerts from my watch that my heart rate is high, often only 105 or so, or rarely low, 41. How can you tell that it’s not artifact. I know that I will sometimes have a fib. My pacemaker is set to pace all the time. I would love to know if there is a way that my fitness tracker is indicating a fib...

Hi! I've had my pacemaker for almost 3 months. The past two weeks I started doing a plank challenge, so doing daily planks and occasional push-ups. I've noticed my pacemaker now seems to protrude slightly more, especially towards the top. I don't know that others would notice, but it definitely feels different to me. Just par for the course or should I stop/be concerned? Thanks!

I had the pacemaker implanted in February. The week before it was implanted I was doing 45 minutes on an episcopal @ 4 miles an hour, getting a target heart rate of 148 and barely breathing hard. Now the simple act of walking up a couple flights of stairs or a small slope or mowing my small level yard leaves me out of breath. My pluse never rises above 60. I should add that my pacemaker was implanted because of Vfib not for a slow heart rate,
Thanks
