Hello everyone.

I have a question, hope someone can help.

I had bradycardia. Severe intermittent type 3 complete electrical heart block. Many terrifyimg syncope episodes due to the very low hb below 30.

A medtronic dual lead was implanted August 2017.

Still feeling very dizzy at times and feel like I might start fainting but do not. Feeling okay if I do nothing like sit on couch and watch tv.

The pm is set to 60bpm. My question is when my heart tries to go b...

Contra dance and pacemakers

Hi, folks. I'm at 5 1/2 weeks post-implant, and feeling great. I spent last night contra dancing, a favorite activity. I'm wondering if there are any other contra dancers out there, especially women, or anyone else who may have insight into what I should be able to do once I hit my EP's 8-week (!) limit on raising that left arm overhead. I have been dancing carefully--no twirls, arm-yanking moves, etc. I suspect that even after the 8 weeks, I may not want to try twirls or any othe...

Scuba Diving

Brand new here. Just got my PM. 65 year old. Pretty active, swimmer, life long weightlifter and athelete. I had regular low heart rates in the 30's for way too long now. It was time to get this done. I did a search for Scuba DIving concerns but didn't see any answers. Is it safe with my new Boston Scientific PM and or are there limits to depths, frequencies...?   Also haven't sked my Dr. yet but how long before I can chase my wife around the house agian? <...

Pulmonary Function Test in Heart Failure

My heart failure Doc wants a baseline to address how well my heart and lungs are working together.  Typically, I currently do a three mile trek on an Air Conditioned indoor walking track.  No crazy speed..........20 min/mile.  Followed by a 1/2 hour on a "New Step" machine - still, I don't go crazy.  Prior to Jan. this year, I would trek 3 miles on a treadmill followed by 6 miles on a recumbent bike & followed by a mile on the indoor track. IT Band T...

FIVE WEEKS IN

It's been five weeks today since I was super-charged! I've been going to the gym since week two doing cardio - 500 calories per day. Last week I started chipping and putting on the golf course. I see my doc next week, but am wondering about a couple of things.

1. My stitches have finally dissolved and only the scar remains, but I feel a tightness and bump where the device was implanted. Will that change?

2. I don't lift heavy weights but usually do sets of curls with 1...

Hiking Trip

My pack is loaded and I'm ready for a 4-day hiking trip.  My buddy, Tom, and I are hiking the Fundy Footpath - the most remote, difficult and scenic trek in my part of Canada.  We are leaving Thursday morning.  I've been resting the last couple days, eating well and drinking water in preparation for 9-10 hours of hiking each day.  My pack weighs 26 pounds - everything you need (tent, sleeping bag and food) needs to be carried on your back.  I certain...

Zumba and LaBlast redux

When I posted about doing Zumba before my PM, a supportive member said this: "You are probably going to be very pleasantly surprised at your new stamina! Heart block is more tiring than we think it is, often we are more symptomatic than we realize."

This week, at the very end of 3 weeks post PM (I'd been walking in the meantime), I started both Zumba and LaBlast, and sure enough, I feel great! My stamina has really improved, and I can do most of t...

Heart rate drop

When exercising (biking, elliptical machine or walking hills), my pulse can suddenly drop from 120/145 to 85/105. (I wear a chest strap pulse meter.)  It takes some time to recover. The explanation given is that a PVC will cause this. Needless to say a drop from 135 to 85 is quite a challenge while working fairly hard. Lately these drops have become more frequent and make it tough to keep exercising. Any thoughts?

Implant questions. 7 days out

I am 7 days out and at peace with the PM, but concerned about my golf swing. I am an avid golfer and my game is improving. Now i see this as a set back maybe. I am concerned that as a righty, the left side placement will get in the way.

I have heard regular placement is ok, others say ask for it to be lower.  The more I read, the more confused I am.

Any words of wisdom?

10 weeks

Today is 10 weeks after PM implant. Dr says I have no limitations. I want to return to what I enjoy doing, swimming and workout with weights. My Doctor however is too conservative. Wants me to wait for another 3 weeks.

I've read of people who have resumed their swimming and weight lifting after 6 weeks with no problems. I feel like going for it.

Lifting Weights With A Pacemaker

Hi all!

I saw a lot of posts about this topic before, but most of them are from a long time ago. So i tought, let's give it a shot!

I'm Bryan and i'm 22 years old. In february I got very ill and I needed an open heart surgery, on top of that i received a pacemaker. So since 8 weeks i've got the pacemaker and I want to go back to the gym. Before i got ill i always went to the gym and did everything that i want. But all the people i've spoken...

pacemaker sensor

I had a pacemaker placed 5 weeks ago for sick sinus syndrome.  I am back to normal activity, but I am worried that my sensor is pacing too slowly because the rate has not gone above 110 when I am exercising, and today I had symptoms post-exercise that I had pre-pacemaker (lightheaded and shaky legs).  I do not understand how the sensor works and maybe the symptoms are normal for a 70 year old woman exercising too much.  However, I thought maybe they could adjust my sensor so my...

Zumba after PM

I'm getting a PM next week. I am 65 and in pretty good health (except for my heart, of course). I have an articifical aortic valve (it's 25 years old), and now asymptomatic AV block. I do Zumba and LaBlast, both lots of fun. I don't do them at a particularly high level, and have never had any trouble with them. So I'm thinking that after a few weeks I can try going to class and not using my arms at all. I think I can keep from bouncing and keep my movements really smooth,...

MEDTRONIC EXCERCISE SETTINGS

I previously posted a question here asking for suggestions to better adjust my ADVISA pacemaker for different forms of exercise, (see below March 3rd). I received some excellent responses that I was able to communicate to my cardiologist. I should say that I actually was able to find two very knowledgeable Medtronic technicians who were able to make changes to the settings of my pacemaker that have resulted in much better response to all my forms of exercise.

I have SSS, Chronotropic In...
