Pain in chest bone

Can anyone comment on the following. I've had a PM for 6 months and only recently have been experiencing intermittent pain in my chest bone area near the PM. I exercise daily but don't experience the pain much when I working out. Anyone's input would be appreciated.

Getting Back Into The water

Hi all

I had a Boston Scientific (AUTOGEN) ICD fitted two years ago here in Ireland. After a year or so of adjustments to the system i was feeling quiet comfortable to get back into some fitness training ,Swimming, weights and Cycling.

A year passed with no ill effects until two weeks ago i had an event while swimming (pusshing it out a bit with new technique) Aparently my HR spiked up to 200BPM and the system went into action and made an atempt to slow down the rate (it is set to...

Exercise and rate response.

I received my PM in April this year and still getting used to it. It was implanted for bradycardia and Afib. I’ve had several adjustments to make the rate response less sensitive and a lower target heart rate. For a while I was feeling awful when riding in a bumpy car/boat or just taking a flight of stairs. That has pretty much subsided, once they lowered the sensitivity (I think it’s set as low as it will go) and set the upper max rate to 120, any higher is up to my natural...

Weight lifting - worried about damage to lead

Hi all. Looking for some advice if possible.

I'm coming up to 3 years of having my PM this October. I started at the gym and mainly do cardio but yesterday thought I would try weights - I did two sets of 12 lateral raises at 4KG. Afterwards I panicked and thought oh no I haven't damaged a lead.

I've been having an on and off pinch near my left rib in a particular spot - a little lower down than my breast bone. Now, this could be a COMPLETE coincidence mixed with anxiet...

HR completely screwed up while running or cycling

Hello!

In December 2018, I had to have a pacemaker implanted. It is a Medtronic Azure XT SR MRI SureScan with a SINGLE lead into the lower chamber of my heart. (They could not put the second lead into the atrium due to small veins. My AV node is not working at all and so the important lead was to the lower chamber.)

I am a male, 52 years old and a recreational athlete...used to run 6 - 8 miles at a 11:30 min/mile pace 2 - 3 times a week. I also biked 50 miles at ap...

Upper body weight exercises 6 weeks post pm operation

Not getting any response from my doctor's nurse about whether or not I can use our riding mower nor about upper body work in the gym. So, here I am.

Any suggestions regarding the upper body workouts? I figure start light and avoid latpulldown at this point. Sitting chest press should be gentle as well as seated row. Free weights light. Maybe 5 lbs or less.

BTW I am 71.

Thanks for your input

Wanting to run again despite having an ICD

I am a 58 yr male that has had 2 heart attacks and VTach with an EF of 28.  I also have RA  I had an ICD implanted 2 years ago.

I used to be a long distance runner and completed several marathons.  While not realistically thinking this is in the cards I would like to run again.  Walking is OK but I long to be able to run again. My Cardiologist has encouraged me to exercise.  It has been nearly 8 years since the last time I ran any distance.  It's l...

i might have moved my pacemaker -- and now it hurts

I was pretty close to being dead -- my heart was stopping, once I woke up about a foot above the floor, I had convulsed.  My heart had stopped, my body convulsed in an attempt to restart it, and as i said, I was a foot or so above the floor, headed down fast!, when I woke up.

All of this is ancient history since I've had my Boston Scientific pacemaker installed -- it saved my life.

Not one event of this kind and my health generally has been much better.

But a...

Pacemaker tapping

So, wow, 5 weeks ago had a two chamber pacemaker installed due to slow heartbeat and heart beat stopping for 3 to 5 second intervals. Feel a whole lot better. So I am amazed at some of the posts here. You can actually tap on your pacemaker to speed it up, seriously? The other day my smart watch said my heart rate was at 134, and at the time not doing any type of physical labor. I have a Medtronics unit. Any comments with truthful answers appreciated! Lol.

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)

Hello everyone,

I got a letter from my cardio team that they will be performing a CPET test during my next appointment. I had this test done last year but unsure how to dissect the test results? I referred the matter to Dr Google but unfortunately it has not been much of a help.

At my last appointment I did ask my cardiologist about the CPET results, his response was results ‘look good’ but he did not go into details, I guess due to limited time available or perhaps th...

Treadmill Exercise

Hi, all! It has been almost a month to the day since my PM was inserted into my chest. I have a St. Jude dual chamber unit which was adjusted last week (pace increased) by my doctor.

A couple of days a week I have been going to the gym and utilizing the treadmill.  My question is this: Is there a limit I should follow or just "listen" to my body and adjust the machine, which I have been doing?  I am not looking to break any land speed records but I seem to tire soone...

Running Heart Rate

I recently bought a new running watch that records my heart rate.  I walk 5 minutes and then I start jogging.  I use to run but at 70 I jog.  I start out slow but my heart rate spikes to around 152 and then spikes down.  This lasts maybe 30 seconds.  My heart rate then sort of levels off and my average will be around 138.  So why does my heart rate spike?  Thanks

Doing Yard Work

Got the pacemaker two weeks ago.  After a few days started feeling human again.  I need to do morning chores for 2-3 hours.  They generally are yard and garden duties in the summer.  Went out two days ago and did general garding, pulling weeds, etc.  My wife, the retired ICU nurse, hovered pretty close.  She was there helping me with every chore.  We talked about my keeping my left arm from going out straight or over my head.  I concentrated on keeping...
