Just had my annual check up and was told that I'm now 100% reliant on my pacemaker and they said that's fine. Thing is I feel really upset and I'm not sure what to do, is this common?

My sister and I, in different locations, both each recently got pacemakers. Both live alone, in our 70s, considering getting medical alert systems. I researched and found they are all safe with pacemakers, but only seem to consider home-based systems that have pendant that connects to base to home phone via bluetooth. Since we both are still active and get out, we were considering the on-the-go models that have built-in cell call capability with GPS and and fall-detect...

do not understand why now there is an old poll about arrhythmias where 442 members have already answered. Of course hopefully those of us who posted our answers will remember we did.

HI Everyone,
I am new here, though I have had a Boston Scientific Pacemaker with a Lattitude since July 8th, 2020. It was inserted for an A/V block and I am 100% paced.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I am experiencing. From July of 2020 until November of 2023, I had no issues with my pacemaker. Then, immediately after my appointment and a slight adjustment in November of 2023, I started feeling little taps from the pacemaker. Strange thi...

Since our last announcement at the beginning of the year, when the Pacemaker Club joined the ForHearts Worldwide community, we have been working diligently on our first major project: creating a robust, technologically advanced forum and website for the club. Our goal for the new forum is to provide a home base for connecting with others who have pacemakers, ICDs, and CRTs. It will be a resource for open conversations that benefit members, while building a community through our shared experie...

Hi
I am considering buying a smart watch which will monitor my heart rate. Does anyone have any experience with a smart watch interfering with a pacemaker?

Reference recent posting on MRI
In the world of electronic components, copper, brass, tin, gold, silver, plastics, ceramics, silicon all are commonly used, and are all non-magnetic and unaffected by the very powerful field of the MRI scanner.
Nickel is an exception.
What has been noticeable in recent years, has been the shift of component manufacturing to China.
This has given rise to cloned or counterfeit chips, chips like the ones in pacemakers. It is very unlikely t...
Lotions or ointments that can be used with a pacemaker?

One of our friends told me the day after implant that i have to be careful with any lotions or ointments that I put on the skin. Is this true? Also my neck aches and usually I use "Ling Chi Tong Medicated Oil" to ease it. It works so well but i want to be sure that its safe with the pacemaker.
Is there any one in the Pacemaker club that knows anything about this. I would be very grateful to hear.

Hi
I am 7 years with a Medtronic dual lead pacemaker and two stents inserted two years ago for 99% blocked right coronary artery
Pacemaker was for ventricular standstill of 25 seconds whilst asleep.
I wear an Apple Watch as like to monitor my heart rate at night. This morning my report tells me that I had a heart rate of 109 bpm sustained at that rate for 30 minutes whilst asleep . I've had the odd high beats during the night but only lasting a few beats...

Is anyone else having problems with Medtronic Carelink net work. On their website it says i should transmit on two different dates when i transmitted on July 23 which was confirmed on screen. They claim last transmission was 4/22.
Have they been affected by the cybersecurity mess?

I'm curious how many of you have alternate lead placement, not in the typical RAA and RV apex.
I will be having a double lead extraction and replacement as well as pocket revision (I believe we are moving it to the axillary fossa region) on August 13th.
Since switching from the EP who did my implantation, my current one has said that my leads were not optimally placed. He said that he rarely uses the conventional placement. After some research, I'm hopeful that h...

Thanks for allowing me to become a member. Receiving a pacemaker is very new to me....one week today! My heart went into afib and I had, over a 24 hour period around 15 episodes of syncope due to around 10 second pauses which lead to an urgent pacemaker placement. Doing well at home and processing all that's happened. Looking forward to reading about how others have adjusted to their new normal.

Rather than highjack an existing thread, I though I might air the Virtual vs Real clinic issue.
I’m old enough to have seen the NHS start, see it evolve, go beyond family doctor to robotic surgery.
My mother probably had to pay the midwife and she related the awful reality of healthcare before the NHS when at 21-years old, she had a mouthful of healthy teeth removed, a sort of insurance against dentist fees she couldn’t afford.
I’m grateful for the care I h...

Contacted my NHS hospital yesterday, leaving a message on their recorder to broach the subject of upping my Maximum Tracking Rate. I have been having problems of breathlessness with vigorous exercise and have monitor evidence of exceeding current maximum and provoking 2:1 block.
They called me back within 45 minutes and gave me an apppointment for this morning.
I have a Biotronik Enitra 8 DR-T. They accessed the online data that my bedside box has been transmitting nightly for a y...
Arm movement impeded

Hello,
My 14 year old son had his pacemaker implanted at 11. He has grown a lot since then, and especially lately. His pacemaker is now somewhat impeding his arm movement in that he cannot lift his arm more than 90 degrees up towards the front without great discomfort. When trying to lift it all the way up, the pacemaker bulges and looks as if it's close to the armpit. Moving the arm out to the side is fine. Do you think this kind of movement is normal with growth?
