Hello everyone..My name is Christina. I'm a 31 year old registered nurse, work in intensive care. After having my first fainting spell at around 19 during the ER visit then a 5 second pause and a 7 second pause were caught on the monitor, tilt table test negative ,,, etc. So docs said " you've overloaded your autonomic nervous systerm with Elavil, Nicotine , caffiene, and Claritin, and it overreacted. So home I went. All was good until about 4 years later another "spell" , er visit, nothing.......

Hi Everyone,
I have been away for a while. I was trying to look at old postings, but guess I am too tired and can't find the search area for a specific topic.
Anyway, question:
What percentages is your heart using your PM, and has your Cardiologist ever lowered the settings?
I am set at 60 and my PM is being used 100% of the time. PM implant due to Bradycardia- 2nd degree blockage in Aug. 2007. My Cardio had mentioned one time maybe lowering the settin...

Well first I would like to thank everyone who has prayed for my trip and me. I did land myself in the hospital and it was the worse experience ever. I hate pain and usually can handle some chest discomfort but it was way to over powerful for me the other day so I landed myself in the worse ER ever.
I don't believe that I am a person with a attitude but can get one when you sit on a monitor for so long and not having one person walk into the room asking how you are doing. After some time...

Can anyone tell me what is the point of doing phone checks on a pacemaker. I received mine in June of 2007 and have been in for office for Medtronic Rep. checks. They have been booking me for every 8 weeks. Can they tell as much in short amount of time what the heck is going on? I had another one today and am booked for 8 weeks again. What information do they really get from them unless you are having a problem at that time?Does it record everything that has been going on since your last check?<...

How long is the longest someone has lived with a pacemaker? And what problems are expected from long term pacing?
From my research, modern implanted artificial pacemakers have only been available for about 35 years (some were available in the 1960s but not very successful) - since the 1970s. I guess I assumed until recently that they have been in use for much longer.
My son is a toddler and got his pacer at birth due to complete heart block (caused by maternal autoanti...

OK - blood test came back with just white blood cell count low. Nothing else relevant. I am not anaemic, no thyroid problem or diabetic.
I am really trying to be positive. I am getting back to exercise, went on X-trainer for 15 mins on Sunday and 20mins today. Why oh why can I not feel energetic! or for that normal.
Feeling pretty low, do not want to go down the road of taking anti-depressants I must be able to get back to normal.
Any suggestions!

Many of you have probably read my previous posts concerning rapid heart rate. Well, this afternoon while driving home, the rapid heart rate reared it's ugly head again. I was just calmly driving through our quiet neighborhood when my heart started pounding, I got short of breath, and I became very dizzy. I barely made into the house, and then I passed out. I was home alone, so I don't really know how long I was out...I just remember waking up on the floor.
I have a history of fainting becau...

Hi Everyone,
This PM family is so supportive and informative I think I'm a little spoiled. I have searched the internet for a similar site for Age Related Macular Degeneration. As much as I hate to admit it, I am losing my vision fairly quickly and need to get into a site where ideas, problems and solutions are discussed in a similar fashion as we do here with our PM's etc. I had a very traumatic event with my vision last night and need to get on it as quickly as possible.

Hi
Thought I would ask a question of my fellow bionics.Since I am
going to be at home for about the next month I thought I would start a diet. Before my surgery I weighed 240 and while I am
fairly active I have found that food is my favorite dish.I asked my doctor about one on my last visit, and while I like him very much,he sometimes answers you without answering you.I might also add that I am a type 2 diabetic (meds only) and I have 1 kidney (operation 2001).This may be a question...

Hi
I am a 33 year old mother of two beautiful girls aged 2 years old and 6 months old and had my first pacemaker implanted in November 2007 - 3 months after the birth of my second daughter. I was diagnosed with complete heart block at 17 weeks into my second pregnancy.
I have breasfed my baby from birth, and despite assurances from my Cardiologist, I am still so nervous that the pacemaker will somehow damage my daughter since she is in such frequent contact with my chest and obv...

Hey, Smitty glad to have you back. I see you posted a answer today. This is your forte. This is one of the reasons your still with us. Bcause you and the big guy knows we need people like you to help the less informed to be more informed. I am very glad you decided to stay. The little episode that happened was just a learning process. We learn something everyday no matter how old we are. I saw you were on the other pacer site and I was going over there to read what you have to say. But I really...

If you live in England do you find that your pacing check, which in the UK should be every six months is now no longer every six months, but when they have time to do it. I used to get my next appointment written on my appointment card at the end of each check. This has been stopped and you leave without knowing when your your next check will be. Six months will go by and still no appointment anymore. Is this happening to you? If not I would still like to know if you are still having regular che...

3 weeks ago I came into the hospital because I could barely stay conscious, my heart sometimes not beating for as long as 8 seconds. It turned out that I also had some terrible pneumonia which I was not even aware of. I have been on heart monitoring this whole time. Sooooo, 3 weeks later the pneumonia is nearly gone and I am scheduled for the PM on next Tuesday.
I have had atrial fibulation for a while and will still have to take meds for that. I hope this all works out ok as I re...
