I had my pacemaker placed in March. I have had high blood pressure for about 5 years that has been in good control with Diovan and Toprol. Right after my pacemaker was placed my blood pressure went sky high. My family dr increased my Diovan but it is still really high. I am trying to convince her to change meds. Any ideas on what is a good choice? I have afib along with my sinus brady. I see from other posts that this is a common problem. Thanks!

Anyone out there having problems with the MedTronic SureScan pacemaker. Implanted eight weeks ago. Having problems with heart racing on the upper end, like 180+ bpm during moderate exercise. Didn't have any such problems before getting the pacemaker, only a very infrequent A-V block problem. Lots of adjustments since implantation, but worried that this (new) type of pacemaker may have unforeseen issues.

Hi. I just found this website, as I was searching for the links between dehydration and bradycardia.
After fainting 3 times in the last year - the last time I was standing in line at WalMart! - my doctor finally explained to me that dehydration causes my blood to thicken. Normally, when this happens, a person's heart will start beating faster to keep pumping enough blood to the brain to keep you going. But, since my pacemaker only pumps at one speed, if I stand in one spot too long...

I have been suffering from rashes for the past 11 months. I have a defibrillator installed in my chest since 11/13. The biopsy of my rash revealed chronic hives from unknown cause. Could it be possible my body is allergic to something in this Merlin transmitter? I have been eliminating all possibilities causing rashes such as soaps and vitamin supplements to no avail. Anyone else out there have this problem or who have been diagnosed as an allergic reaction to the device in your body?

Need some help. I had a T.I.A. stroke a couple of weeks ago because I stopped PRADAXA for 3 days. My problem is --- the last time I changed my CRT-P Pacer ( June 2013 ) I stopped the PRADAXA for 4 days ( doctors orders). Now I am wondering If there is any rule as to how many days you should stop or do doctors just pull a number of days out of the air. Obviously if I got a stroke after 3 days stoppage; stopping it for 4 days means I'm pushing my luck each time I change a Pacemaker. Anyone out the...

Hello all,
This is a follow up to my post about not being able to exercise without feeling sick and throwing up etc. This past Monday my Husband and I walked to our mailbox which has a slight hill to climb. I got dizzy and had to be helped back home, started the old sick, throw-up thing. Set a interrogation of my pacer to doctors and they called saying I had 18 episodes of V_Tach in the last month up to 180's yet below my VT zone. Was told to go to local ER. Tried to get it done...

Hello,
I was just told this morning that my father has an afib in the upper part of his heart. He had a pacemaker put in in 2012. The afib was just found because of a reading and a regular checkup with the VA. Per records the afib showed up in Dec of 2014, Jan, Feb of this year.
We've many questions of course. My concerns are if he would have to go back into surgery for treatment? Has anyone here been in this situation? Do or can pacemakers cause afibs?

When I had my pacemaker originally put in they just put it in under the skin but soon after it started moving around and almost flipping over. The cardiologist recommended getting a pocket revision and having it put in the muscle. I got my pocket revision about a year ago. I fell the other day and started having a lot of pain when I move my arm and went in to make sure nothing was wrong. They did a x ray and had the tech check the devise but the doctor was not there. I asked the tech if everythi...

I got my pacemaker two years ago and l have lumps around it also they were very soft but now a couple of them feel like small peas. It took almost this whole time for the soreness to go away, I thought it was just scar tissue, it seems like my body didn't like having it in there. I had a mammogram and that was ok but I don't think it goes that high so I am going back to my cardiologist next week and see what they say. I hope it's nothing and I let it go, my mammogram was ok.

I had a Bos. Sci. PM installed 1/14/15. I had a-fib while still at hosp. They ran an ekg imm. after. the nurse said that I had had an a-fib event. Went home next day and recovered well. have felt great since. But last thursday afternoon while sitting i had another "event" that came on suddenly and lasted at least a minute with hard pumping and quivering pain and breathlessness. Took a nitro and it went away. felt weak for a while after that. Next day called Device lab and informed them but it d...

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
