Depression

I just had an ICD implanted Feb 1st. Aside from severe pain I experienced, I am having a difficult time dealing with this lump on my chest. Being that I had a mastectomy on my right breast in 2002, I now feel quite ugly. I believe many women probably have issues dealing with appearance. Won't be wearing any low cut blouses. Also, am much more aware of excessive palpitations at night. The bottom line here, I'm trying to stay alive! But the reality that I have LBBB, cardiomyopathy, and CHF,...

loop uncoiled?

Hey,

Well it's been about 3 months since I had my first ICD implanted and i recently did an x-ray which showed the loop of the lead had uncoiled and needed another minor surgery to re-coil it. The Dr said that it wasn't urgent but it just needed to be done quite soon because it would be harder to do when the tissue had fully healed.... blah blah blah...

anyway the point is I think i'm going to have it in maybe a month or 2 (dr is still unsure) and was wondering how long i...

ICD with three leads

Hi there. Haven't posted in a long time. I am scheduled for a new ICD in March. They are going to leave the Fiidelis lead which is still working fine in place; then run a new lead beside the one in the atrium. Not going to extract it, have been told this is risky. My third lead will be on the other side of the heart so it will beat together. I have had shortness of breathe since Oct. and the ankles were swollen while on vacation at Christmas. I am a little scared this time for surgery, bu...

Cryoablation

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here has ever had a cryoablation done. I am going in surgery in march to have this done to try to get rid of my accelerated juntional rhythm. My dr wants to try to knock out the juntional without wiping out the av node or giving me heart block. He has made no guarentees but thought it was worth a shot as he doesn't know what else to do for me. I have tried meds and either have not worked or couldn't tolerate (and the included flecanide) .The only med...

I was just thinking about how I sometimes have dreams about getting shocked. It gave me a flash back to when I was in 6th grade. (This will probably make sense to no one on here) I had a dream I was a character in the video game Red Faction and I had been shot in the heart with the rail gun. I dreamed the whole xray vision and zooming in on my heart and then firing like in the game. The rail gun is a weapon that can shoot through walls and when you scope in you see a thermal image of the enemy....

Electrical Pain

I had CRT-P installed Aug 2012. on rt side. Surgeon left old pacemaker (on left side) intact, but deactivated it. Starting last nite: quick, shooting jolts of pain lasting 1/3 to 1/2 second. These bursts occur every 15 to 145 seconds apart. They then completely disappear. INCREDIBLY, THE PAIN HITS ONLY ON THE TOP SURFACE OF MY RIGHT FOOT! No pain at the implant area. Pulse & B/P OK- pacing at 70 as IRD was set.

Called Pacemaker Clinic. He stated "...pain in foot would not be caused b...

Miracle recovery from 40-minute death at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre

A FORMER junior world champion triathlete who was clinically dead for more than 40 minutes was brought back to life by an extraordinary group of people who refused to give up on her.

Returning to the pool yesterday, with a pacemaker defibrillator fitted to stop it occurring again, Ms Carney paid tribute to her saviours.

"It's really bizarre. I woke up three days later and I was in ICU,"...

100% paced

I went back to my dr today for a recheck after he put me on the verapamil. Not only did I not tolerate it but it didn't seem to slow my juntional rhythm down any. When I was on the med it lowered my blood pressure so much it made me very dizzy and nauseated. We have been talking back and forth about doing an av node ablation. He is unsure of doing this cause he's not sure I will be able to handle the feeling of being 100% paced so he is having me do a little trial..he upped my lower rate to 80 a...

Hello, took me a while to get what PM stood for, but figured it out. I recently had an ICD implanted on the 20th of December 2012. I am in the military stationed in Korea. While doing a 4 mile run at a slow pace my heart stopped after the run during the cool down). I am not sure as to the details only what people told me. Anyway just wanted to say high to you. I have done a lot of research in regards to my device because it is scary knowing that it is in my chest. It has just been 30 days as of...

Update

On December 13 I was updated from a pacer to a BiVentricular ICD. I had some bleeding in the pocket the ICD was in. It swelled up to at least 1 1/2 times. They went in a drained it. And now it seems to be getting better. Still some swelling but getting smaller. I had to be upgraded because my heart rate jumped up to 175bpm for about 2 minutes.

varapermil

Went and seen my dr today, he looked at my strips from my event monitor and of course they were all junctional. I am going to try varapermil to see if it might help since its the only drug that I haven't tried yet. If it doesn't work or I can't tolerate it he is going to go forward with the av node ablation as I have slim to none on more options so this is my last hope!
