Wondering about using an inversion table also for my bulging disc and sciatic nerve. Does anyone know if it is ok? I have a defibrillator.

Hi all
I have done 2 races in the last 10 days - a 5k last week and a 5 miler last night. In the 5k I was 2nd in my age group (don't tell anyone that there were only 3 of us in the category!) and won a fiver - whoopydo!). Don't know what position I was last night as they haven't printed the results yet but was pleased with my time - 42.55 ( just over 8 an half minute miling) so getting back nearly to what my times were pre PM. Just want to thank everyone again for your support an...

My son just had a pacemaker put in two months ago. He is five years old and VERY active. I'm trying to figure out some sort of padding/protection to help with when he gets bumped. Does anyone have a favorite such as undershirts with padding or a pad he can strap on underneath his shirt? He's getting to start t-ball, and though it's pretty low key, I would feel better if there was something to help cover. :)

So its been 9 months since my ICD was implanted. No need to share my story, as I have done that in the past. Update is I am doing Yoga 4-5 times a week, back to riding my bike to the gym 3-4 times a week as well. I wear a heart monitor when riding and keep a close eye on my rate. The emotional experience was intense and I had several EMDR sessions to deal with the PTSD. I will be able to drive in another 30 days from today!!! That being said- I noticed a bit of a tingle during yoga the other day...

Hi everyone, so what I thought was probable Arrythmogenic Right Ventricle Dysplasia (ARVD), after a ton of invasive tests and an MRI which showed I did not meet Task Force Criteria for the disease, after a second opinion by a specialist in ARVD who reviewed all of my records and even my MRI disc, he said it was likely hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HC) or sarcoidosis but not ARVD!! Thank God I got a second opinion!! Just got that today and sent it to my EP.
Anyways, avid runner, cyclist...

Hi all - it's been 18mo since my dual chamber PM implant. I'm a 37yo male in Texas. I've since had a cardiac ablation for a high-side arrhythmia (270bpm during strenuous workouts).
Through all of it I've been swimming 3x/week for about an hour each session.
I just participated in a 2 kilometer swim race on our downtown lake and placed in the middle overall and middle for my age group.
I also played 2hrs continuous pick-up basketball this week.
In add...

I just finished about 45 minutes on treadmill at a fairly brisk pace of 3.5 mph and elevated incline of 4% - I feel great and no AF flutters to speak of -- the AF flutters seem to be mainly at night when I am at rest. Does anyone else have that experience ? Thanks --

I am in my fifth week and doing very well. My PM is set so my heart rate does not go below 80. I am also taking BB for mild A-fib. Is 80 a normal setting? I will ask at next check up in a week, but curious. I do the treadmill and Doctor said at my age 74, do not go to much beyond 100 - or so. Here is the problem I have a hard time getting it up beyond 85 or so at 3.5 mph. and 5% slope - is the BB holding down rate. After reading other posts I think I have a pseudo problem, but any comments are wel...

5 weeks post pm implant and I got back to the gym for an hour with my trainer today.....and it was fantastic!!!! To top it off I managed a gentle 45 min session of karate in the dojo tonight :) on the strength of this I have signed up to do a 5k fundraising run on 1st June.
I am on such a high. Who would have thought it after being unable to walk the length of myself because of fainting and breathlessness...
There is life after a pacemaker and I can't wait to enjoy it :)

Is anyone using a Hydro rower machine after PM implantation?
It is repetitive motion, but very fluid. I am gong on 8 months post and doing other exercises.
I was told to call Tech support for my PM, but wanted to pick some brains here also. It seems my questions are answered better on this forum.

I started back to the gym 3x/week, doing treadmill and machines. It is going on 9 months since implant and wondering why, after one week of working out, there is slight swelling just above the implant. Does not hurt but I feel the swelling. All recovery has been good so far, just wondering about this. Taking some time off with the machines now and will just do the brisk walking. Thanks for any info, Nita

Hello,
I am 27 going to be 28 next Wednesday, and on Monday I am scheduled to have a ICD put it. I was born with a condition called Transposition of the Greater Vessels and had a Mustard Procedure to correct the condition. A side effect of the condition is a heart rate averaging around 40 bpm with it dipping into the 30s randomly throughout the day. During my exercise test it never got over 80. I also have a much higher chance of a lethal lower heart rythm, hence the ICD. I have always str...

Hi All,
So exercising is bad for you..

Athletes beware - endurance training may make it more likely that you will need a pacemaker, scientists believe.
A British Heart Foundation team found exercise in mice triggers molecular changes in the part of the heart that generates its natural beating rhythm.
This may explain why elite athletes have low resting heart rates and a higher risk heart rhythm distu...

I was told by the doctor I had a short between my heart and brain that sent a electrical charge. Now you guys say there is no such thing. Well this is what happened,One saturday morning in January, while making breakfast, I passed out on the floor. I thought no big deal I am low sugar. I ate a small chocolate and continued with my day.At 4P.M; in the afternoon ,while playing a game with my grangkids, I passed out again. This time, when I woke up I was very weak. By the time they got me dressed and...

Thanks for all the responses from my questions.
My PM is on the lleft side and I am left handed, so I will learn to shoot right handed.I will find a small pad and lower the amount of things I take with me. Maybe the scouts can help carry some of the cooking and food stuffs. I tend to do more then I need to ,then to ask others to help.I won't ask anything of someone that Iwon't do mtself.
I will repack my pack and do some hiking with my SPL (that's the Senior Patrol.Leader) a couple of...
